Primeira semana do segundo mês de 2009, quinta-feira, dia 5. A Digressão Europeia dos Mogwai pisava o palco da Aula Magna repleta de gente. Repleta de gente jovem, de gente adulta, mas principalmente de gente que sabia para o que ia.
Numa primeira e distante apreciação, a decisão de colocar milhares de pessoas sentadas para assistir a um concerto onde as guitarras de grito fácil e as baterias de tempos e contratempos loucos são o que mais há, parece no mínimo má ideia. Esta visão ainda poderá ter algum cabimento quando falamos dos sintetizadores e dos beats dos Errors, mas quando se trata dos Mogwai, consegue-se entender a escolha da sala, já que a acústica da sala é assombrosa, cada corda tocada levemente parecia mel nos ouvidos e cada distorção desmedida parecia o rebentar de uma ogiva nuclear aos nossos pés.
É indesmentível que a vertente electrónica dos Errors pede pista, pede dança, pede suor e balbúrdia, mas só houve mesmo o bater com o pé no chão, o local pouco mais permitia. O alinhamento dos jovens escoceses andou obviamente pelo EP – How clean is your acid house? e pelo longa duração de estreia It`s not something but it is like whatever. Curiosamente ou não e prova ou não do bom senso dos rapazes eles escolheram os temas com menos toques de electrónica, tirando um Salut france ou um Toes mais animados, a banda andou quase sempre pelos seus temas mais “tradicionais”.
Depois os Mogwai. Uma simplicidade genial de jogos visuais. É incrível como uma mão cheia de focos consegue moldar a sensibilidade das canções. Com tão pouca luz, conseguiram abrir corações e mentes, mas mais, elevar o público a um êxtase quase doentio de uma epilepsia nervosa com quase duas horas de duração. O mais recente The Hawk is Howling foi rei e senhor, foi vê-lo desfilar e ombrear com a colectânea Ten Rapid Collected 96-97 ou com o mítico Young Team. As mais novas I love you, i`m going to blow up your school ou o belíssimo tema de abertura do mais recente disco e do concerto I`m Jim Morrison, i`m dead, ganharam protagonismo igual ou maior do que clássicos como Mogwai fear satan ou helicon 1. A nova Scotland`s shame foi sem duvida um dos momentos mais altos do concerto, e voos maiores seriam de esperar, com Haunted by a freak e Friend of the night a poucos minutos de aparecerem.
Aquando do lançamento de The Hawk is Hownling muitos diziam ser este o começo do fim dos Mogwai e de todo o movimento que se designou chamar de Post-rock. No entanto, os escoceses conseguiram mostrar que estão vivos e bem vivos. O alinhamento esteve perto da perfeição, perto porque o final não foi de todo glorioso. Não está em questão a belíssima 2 rights makes 1 wrong, mas depois de um encore explosivo a acabar com Like Herod e Batcat, com ainda tempo para umas palavrinhas de homenagem para Lux Interior, o público esperava mais doses de adrenalina.
Uma palavra para o público que esteve excelente. Com um enorme respeito pela música, até pelos silêncios desta.
